Grant FAQ's

UK registered charities or Not for Profit UK companies
You must be UK based and your work should be focused on positively impacting UK Muslims.  For our launch cycle, in this first funding cycle we are casting the net wide and seeking applications from organisations who believe their work is having a transformational impact in the UK. We are very interested in smart projects that get the most out of their limited resources.
Themes for our upcoming cycles will be decided closer to the time. Subscribe to our newsletter to keep updated with more details and news here. We expect to have our next funding cycle live in 6 months inshaAllah.
At present we award grants of up to £10,000 per organisation with a cap at 20% of your annual income. We hope to increase this limit in future cycles as we receive more donations into our Waqf Investment Fund which in turn will yield more funds to disburse to good causes. For exceptional causes needing a larger grant we may consider awarding up to £25,000 so please do apply if you believe the impact of your organisation/project is worthy and priority.
Reviewing large numbers of grant applications and completing due diligence can take time but unlike some major Foundations and Trusts that can take up to 12 months NWF aims to provide funds within 4-5 months of application submission. We largely operate by a team of volunteers which helps keep costs down. If you would like to join our team of volunteers please contact us here
All applicants will be contacted with the outcome of their application.
Due to the large number of applications we anticipate receiving, unfortunately we will not provide an explanation of why an application was not successful.
We are open to funding typical and atypical costs as we appreciate needs can vary. We can fund a specific project within your organisation or your organisation as a whole. Funds can typically be used for operational costs (equipment, utilities etc), core costs (salaries, rent etc) and even capital costs (property, land) but we’ll consider direct beneficiary costs for e.g. paying for meals, transport etc or any other costs you may wish to apply for.
Not within 12 months of receiving a grant but we are open to reconsider those applications that can demonstrate exceptional impact from initial funding. Of course you may reapply if your application was initially unsuccessful.

We highly encourage donations into the Waqf because we believe this is the best way to invest in sustainable, ongoing, multiplied rewards. Everyone can donate any amount they wish. Click here to make a donation.

When you donate to NWF, we pool your donations together to make an efficient and Shariah Compliant investment into a Waqf (Islamic endowments held in trust for a charitable purpose). This investment (typically buildings/land etc) perpetually yields revenue which never stops giving NWF sustainable grant funds to empower charitable causes. We will make sure all investments are high performing so the yield continues for generations to come and the reward is forever in this life.
Grant decisions are made by a subcommittee vote made up of a range of diverse and experienced community, business and charity leaders to ensure a fair and robust process. As such all applications are treated equally against a set criteria and all decisions are final.
